AGYC has activities galore for golfers and non-golfers!
There is no shortage of things to do at Alderbrook! The Ladies Club, the Men’s Club and the Yacht Club are the three primary social and activity groups. The Lady Putter’s Club is an easy way to “golf” without being a golfer. Bridge, poker and Hand ‘n Foot games along with Mahjong, Mexican Train Dominoes, and ping pong are popular pastimes. Exercise classes are held daily. Tennis, pickle ball and bocce courts are available. In the summer, the Community Garden overflows with flowers and produce grown by our members. Two member-organized book clubs meet monthly. The membership also enjoys frequent social events, live music and special functions at the Clubhouse throughout the year, such as the annual AGYC Christmas Party and many other themed events.
It is easy to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities in the Hood Canal area, such hiking, boating, kayaking, fishing and crabbing. A number of regional festivals — Traveler Days, Forest Festival, OysterFest, PumpkinFest and Fantasy Forest — celebrate local history or traditions. Art classes are available in the community, and two casinos are nearby. There are several restaurants, two country stores, an antique store and a marina in Union, and the award-winning Alderbrook Resort & Spa is at the base of our hill.
In 2015, AGYC celebrated its 50th anniversary with a number of activities in a culminating in a party for the entire membership on July 26, 2015. Over 200 people attended this event.
A permanent exhibit in the Clubhouse featuring AGYC’s history was unveiled and a time capsule was dedicated.
