“The mission of Salmon for Soldiers is to offer a sense of normalcy and relaxation to our nation’s Veterans through fishing. Salmon for Soldiers’ fishing opportunities are designed to help reduce stress while creating new relationships with others who love fishing. Our events are designed to accommodate Veterans with paralysis, PTSD, TBI and other debilitating challenges.
In the journey toward adulthood, a young person needs to be taught and shown such traits as honor, sportsmanship and integrity. This should be the common goal for all junior sports programs. Golf, because of its inherent nature, may be the best sport to teach these life-enduring lessons to our youth.
For the Alderbrook Junior Golf Program, the physical act of hitting a golf ball becomes secondary to the teaching of these moral traits. In the meantime, if that young person picks up the game for life, it is an added bonus.
